Mariners

Seattle hosts the Toronto Blue Jays for the fifth game of the American League Championship Series starting at 3:08 p.m. Friday.

The sixth game will be back in Toronto at 5:03 p.m. Sunday with any seventh game taking place there at 5:08 p.m. Monday.

Seattle got the early jump on Toronto on Wednesday as Julio Rodriguez found the out-of-town scoreboard in left field for a two-run home run after Randy Arozarena had led off the bottom of the first with a walk.

Jorge Polanco followed Rodriguez with a ground rule double but was stranded on a strikeout and popout.

George Kirby held the Blue Jays scoreless the first two innings before being tagged for five runs in the third in an eventual 13-4 loss for the Mariners.

Seattle did not score again until Arozarena and Cal Raleigh hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth.

The Mariners struck first again Thursday but still went down to an 8-2 defeat.

Josh Naylor put them on the scoreboard with a solo home run to center field in the second.

But the Blue Jays took control with three runs in the third and two in the fourth.

Seattle picked up one run in the sixth as Eugenio Suarez singled to right to bring in Polanco, but Toronto answered with one in the seventh and two in the eighth.
