UW women's soccer keeps winning

By Tim Clinton

Winning seems to come naturally for the University of Washington women's soccer team.

The program that was only founded in 1991 has already made the NCAA tournament 18 times, with 13 appearances in the Round of 32, six in the Round of 16 and three in the quarterfinals.

The Huskies have two regular season conference championships, coming in the year 2000 in the Pac-12 and in 2025 in the Big Ten.

One of the NCAA appearances came that year, along with 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2024 and 2025.

The three teams that made the deepest drives into the tournament were the UW quarterfinalist teams of 2004, 2010 and 2025.

Making the Round of 16 along with those squads were the Huskies from 2000, 2014 and 2020.

Other teams making the Round of 32 besides the aforementioned six were the Washington sides from 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2024.

The rest only made it as far as the first round, but there were only five Huskies squads that did that.

The UW enjoyed a banner year in 2025, winning the Big Ten postseason tournament championship after losing only one conference regular season match and advancing as far as the NCAA quarterfinals, or Elite Eight, before being eliminated at the home of No. 2 seed Duke in Durham, N.C.

Washington has spent six seasons under the leadership of current head coach Nicole Van Dyke.

The UW plays its regular season in the fall but also has matches in the late winter and spring.

The Washington women share Husky Soccer Stadium with the men's program.  It seats 2,200.
