Pros

Seahawks

Seattle claimed the National Football Conference West Division championship and the NFC's No. 1 overall playoff seed using stingy defense and timely offense for a 13-3 win at San Francisco this Saturday.

The Seahawks finished with a 14-3 regular season record and will now get a bye past the first round of the playoffs to rest up.

"Our defense picked us up," Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold told a national television audience after the game.  "Just a total team effort tonight."

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current announced Troy Aikman agreed.

"There's no weakness on that defense," he said.

Darnold led the Seahawks' offense by completing 20 of 26 passes for 198 yards, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba catching six passes for 84 yards.

Kenneth Walker III carried the ball 16 times for 97 more yards.

But it was Zach Charbonnet who scored first for Seattle on a 27-yard run off left tackle with 4:29 remaining in the first quarter.  Jason Myers kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

Myers upped the lead to 10-0 with a 45-yard field goal with 5:19 to go in the second quarter and San Francisco answered with a 48-yard field goal to close the halftime deficit to 10-3.

But Myers kicked a 31-yard try at 14:14 to go in the fourth quarter to make it 13-3 before Greg Thomas came through with a key interception with the 49ers within 10 yards of a touchdown.

A Myers 26-yard field goal try hit the upright with 2:20 remaining, but the Seahawks stopped San Francisco on downs and knelt on the ball to kill the clock.

Kraken

Seattle went all the way to a shootout to pull off a 4-3 victory Friday over the Vancouver Canucks.

The score was knotted at 3-3 at the end of regulation time and through one overtime period before the Kraken took the shootout, 1-0.

Matty Beniers struck for the winning shot in the third round after putting an impressive move on the Canucks' goalie.

Seattle goalie Joey Daccord saved three shots earlier in the shootout after going 20-for-23 on saves earlier.

Ben Meyers, Cale Fleury and Chandler Stephenson scored one goal apiece in regulation time while Jacob Melanson, Jamie Oleksiak, Jared McCann, Jordan Eberle, Kaapo Kakko and Ryan Winterton each had one assist.

Seattle visits the Calgary Flames at 6:30 p.m. Monday before coming home to the Climate Pledge Arena to face the Boston Bruins at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the Minnesota Wild at 7 p.m. Thursday.
